L&I Inspection!

Dear Professor Risk,
Several of my business owner friends have been inspected by L&I recently, what is the correct action that should be taken if they show up at my business?

Answer:
First, don’t panic! For heaven’s sake don’t tell the inspector to “just go away.” This would cause some potential problems for you. The DOSH inspectors have a job to do, so please treat them with the respect they deserve. One of my long standing saying that is easy to remember is, “just give them milk and cookies” and let them do their job. This is not a time to argue the merits of their visit or the items they believe are in violation of OSHA/DOSH regulation. In every case, calmer heads prevail and in most cases are less expensive!
